Authentic for its simplicity, the village is located 130 km from Belo Horizonte. It combines large peaks in the same landscape, some with more than 2000 meters of altitude, preserved colonial houses, cobblestone streets, ruins of an aqueduct, colonial churches, including works by Aleijadinho and Mestre Ataíde, beautiful waterfalls and a cozy climate Pleasant.

The baroque architectural ensemble formed by the Igreja da Matriz and the old houses around the square Monsignor Mendes, among other constructions, brings to the present the history of the small and bucolic city mining.
