Everyone knows the king of the jungle is the lion. But it was not always so. Legend has it that the eagle, sovereign in the sky, wanted to one day make his reign on earth and challenged his majesty, the Lion King.
It all started because of a prose, a conversation the eagle had with the vulture. He asked if she had ever thought of being king on earth one day. After all, the winged creatures could easily dominate the ground from high above. In addition, the eagle also has its royalty, it is haughty and cunning.
The eagle liked the idea. What she didn't tell is that there was a monkey that listened to everything the birds talked about and decided to tell his majesty, the Lion King, what was happening.
On the way to meet the king, the monkey met the bat, which, despite not being from the Nobody's side, he decided to tell that the flying animals were already prepared to attack the land. This caused a huge stir in the jungle, the animals organized themselves in the savanna to defend the kingdom. Even the jackal offered to carry the Lion King's flag using his long tail.
The bat, feeling out of place, with no kingdom to defend, went to cry his sorrows with the bee, his flying friend. Touched by the bat's complaints, she decided to pick up the fight. He flew to the battlefield and gave the jackal a nice sting on the tail, which dropped the flag to the ground.
The Lion King, who watched from afar, ready to face the enemy, when he saw the flag fall, thought the war was lost. He wondered how this could have happened, since there are far bigger and stronger creatures on earth.
Tired of fighting, the Lion King decided to appeal to the conversation and sent a message to the eagle. It was a letter of peace, which advised the eagle to think carefully if he really wanted to reign over heaven and earth. After all, birds are small animals and, on the ground, they are vulnerable to other bigger and hungry animals.
The message was convincing and the eagle decided to think about it better. After all, if the war really happened, she wouldn't be there to tell the story, much less to reign. So, he decided to hand over the throne of the earth to its rightful owner.
That's why today the lion is known worldwide as the King of the Jungles.
