Water is the fundamental element for the existence of life on Earth. All living beings depend on it to survive and to guarantee the permanence of the species – water sustains life.
A person's body weight is composed of 60-70% water, which has both the function of regulating the internal temperature and ensuring the proper functioning of all organic functions.
The adult human body needs, on average, four liters of water a day to stay healthy. In addition, water is also essential for the preparation of baby bottles, food, juices, essential for personal and environmental hygiene. Thus, it is everyone's duty not to allow any type of waste and to guarantee safe water, with quality, pure and crystal clear. Its consumption allows for a more comfortable life, starting with the act of quenching thirst, providing food, whether in agriculture, industries, restaurants or in every home.
Water is also essential for energy generation, transport, recreation, health and the population's employment.
There is a false idea that water resources are infinite. There really is a lot of water on the planet, but less than 3% of that volume is made up of fresh water, of which more than 99% is frozen in the polar regions, making it difficult for man to use it.
It has no smell (odorless), no color (colorless), no taste (tasteless) and is formed by two gases: hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O2).
For the water to become potable, that is, suitable for consumption, it needs to be treated. Currently, millions of people around the world do not have good quality water, and one of the reasons is the continuous pollution of rivers, resulting from the lack of human care.
We say that water is contaminated, or unfit for consumption, when it presents dirt and microorganisms that cause diseases to humans and animals.
