Advantages and Disadvantages of Biodegradables
The biggest benefit of these materials is their complete and much faster decomposition. Biodegradable products contribute to the non-accumulation of garbage on the planet. However, if on the one hand they contribute to the reduction of solid waste, on the other hand, biodegradable products contribute to the greenhouse effect, as if they degrade, they release methane gas proportional to the speed of degradation, that is, the faster the product decomposes, the more gas it releases into the air.
Despite the disadvantages, biodegradable products still represent environmental advantages over conventional products. Studies show that products with slower biodegradable agents can be placed in landfills and the gas from decomposition can be used to generate heat and energy, with less impact on the environment. environment.
Biodegradable products are not the best solution, but advances in research can contribute to improving the packaging of the biodegradable products we use. Remembering that before disposal, it is much more important to reduce consumption, give preference to products with reusable packaging and separate the “garbage that is not garbage” for recycling.
