One of the concepts of evaluation is analysis, that is, evaluating is making use of a totality of things, dividing it into parts to allow each of the parts to be properly and rigorously examined.
When applying diagnostic evaluations throughout the school year, the teacher needs to be clear within himself what the act of evaluating really is, because much more than than giving a test, the assessment is an excellent tool to identify which actions in the classroom may or may not have continuity.
In addition, assessment cannot only be treated as something intended for students, but when applying an assessment, the teacher also has the opportunity to review concepts and values about their practice, as a professional truly committed to the good development of their students.
It is also important to understand that the assessment cannot be understood only as the application of tests at the end of some worked content.
It needs to be developed at all times during the class during the school year, as this way it will always be possible to take decisions in the proper direction of efforts aimed at the student's academic development, as well as the professional development of the teacher.
In this way, it is always interesting to reflect on what evaluation needs to be in the beginning, in the middle and in the end. In all these phases, the assessments are diagnostic, that is, they serve to diagnose the degree of knowledge of your students, as well as whether or not they are presenting some difficulty in performing some task or what is expected of them and, not least, seeking the reason for such difficulties and their origins.
