Happy Children's Day!

A mother once saw her little boy sitting in a corner of the room, reciting the letters of the alphabet aloud: a, b, c, d, e, f, g…

Intrigued, she approached and asked him: son, what are you doing?

Mom, you told me to always pray to God. Turns out I don't know how to do it. So I decided to go on saying the entire alphabet to God, asking him to say a good prayer with these letters.

How many times do we say that we do not know how to pray or how to address the Creator. We even ask others to pray for us, for our needs, for our affections, because we don't know how to pray.

And it's so simple. Praying is dialoguing with whoever is most responsible for our life, for everything we are, as long as we originate from his will: God.

There is no need for difficult, elaborate or memorized words. Prayer must be spontaneous, generated by the need of the moment. Or for a moment of intense joy, an achievement accomplished, a goal achieved.

Master Galileo already taught us in his time: do not believe that however much you speak, you will be heard. It is not by the multiplicity of words that you will be answered.

And he wisely taught Jesus that one should pray to the Father in secret. Therefore, there are many prayers that are not even said.

They explode from the soul to the heavens without the lips taking part, without the vocal cords being triggered.

God sees what goes on in the depths of hearts. Read your children's minds.

Prayer can become incessant in our lives without having to take any special stand. The prayer can be at any moment, without any interruption in our work.

It can be the act of acknowledging God when we escape an accident that could be fatal. It can be a moment of ecstasy for the beauty of the ocean that throws its waves against the rocks, wanting to snatch them to your bosom.

Or, still, before the spectacle of rainbow colors after the storm that shattered the roses.

No ready-made formulas, no ordered words or difficult to pronounce.

Pray, thank you. Just like a child who gets a toy, jumps on his father's lap, and says smiling: Thank you, Dad. I loved it.

Or, when, pleadingly, he asks: does Dad buy an ice cream? Oh please. Buy it, daddy.

Simpleness, simplicity. This is how we must dialogue with God our Father.

God, in his infinite mercy, created a special channel of communication so that at any time, in any place, every thinking being could speak to him.

This channel is called prayer. Accessible to the poor, the wealthy, the literate and the lack of intellectual resources. To the child and the adult; for those who believe and even for those who do not believe but who one day realize that it is very comforting to have a Father who always listens, assists and helps.
Don't forget to use your special communication channel.

Run until you run out of breath, roll on the floor without fear of getting dirty, speak whatever comes into your head and make a joke of anything. Time of life that we miss when we get old. And it is exactly on this date dedicated to all these little beings, who have innocence as their main characteristic, that we must not only value child vitality, but also seek to rescue the essence of child.
