Palaeography helps to understand the writings in historical documents, since the spelling (writing) was very different from ours today.
paleo comes from old and graphia of writing. Ancient writing. The initial idea of paleography arose in the 17th and 18th century, in the sense of understanding an older script and making a transcription, managing to decipher its content.
It's like becoming an old documents detective.
To become a paleographer, you have to be very fond of history, research, and take several courses, especially archivology.
In addition to handwriting, handwritten (since there were no computers or typewriters), the old documents they are full of abbreviations common at the time, which makes searching these historical records even more complex.
