A few years ago, here in Brazil there was the tribe of Indians Maués, there was a couple of very young Indians, who were very happy, except for the desire to have a child. Until one day India got pregnant for the happiness of everyone in the village.
After a few months, India gave birth to a beautiful little Indian, who became everyone's joy. Nearby, in the forest, there was a very bad and envious snake that liked to spoil the happiness of others. The same, unable to bear to see the curumim with all attention turned to him, being protected by everyone.
One day, he hid behind a bush and, in the Indians' carelessness, the curumim left without anyone noticing. The wicked snake lunged and stung the boy in the leg.
When they noticed the Indian was missing, they all went looking for him and found him already lifeless.
Desperate parents took him in their arms and begged the god Tupã for help. This one, with pity for everyone, ordered them to take his eyes off the boy and bury him in the village, being obeyed by the couple.
Four moons passed and when the parents returned to the place, they noticed that a beautiful plant was born there, which was growing, growing, growing… When it was already very big, the plant it began to bear fruit, that's when everyone noticed that the fruit looked like two little black eyes, and they took it for themselves that it was the boy's eyes that multiplied to take care and protect.
From the plant's stem the Indians made various types of medicines, which served to cure diseases and fortify the weak, the juice made from the plant served to make them brave enough to face all the enemies.
