In the wild, by Jon Krakauer, bestselling author in thin air, brings a true story. The decaying body of a young man is found in Alaska. The police discover that he is a young man from a wealthy East American family who dropped everything, entered the icy aridity alone and died of starvation. Who was the boy? Why did he go to Alaska? Why did he die? To answer these and other questions, Jon Krakauer retraces the trajectory of Chris McCandless, revealing the America of those who live on the margins, hitchhiking or driving around in old cars, living in camps and ghost towns. Dive into the world of the rural town, where rough men drink and talk about the weather and the harvest. He compares the young man's story with that of other lonely adventurers who had a tragic end. The result is an engaging, sometimes bitter narrative ____ that the dreams of youth turn into nightmares.
