The purpose of this activity is to stimulate Attention, Concentration, Logical Reasoning, Strategy, Memory

Material:

  • Board and Checkers

How to play:

  • The checkerboard consists of a square divided into eight rows of eight squares of alternating colors – usually white and black. The pieces are also divided into two colors, each player representing one of them. To assemble the board, just place all the pieces on the dark squares, in the first three rows in front of the player. The objective of the game is to eliminate or block as many opposing pieces as possible. In the basic game, alternate moves, starting with who has the black pieces. Participants move the pieces one at a time to the adjacent empty squares, and the moves can only be diagonal and forward. When one of the squares is occupied by the opponent, but the next one is empty, the player can jump over it, removing the other player's piece. The player can jump two or more pieces if there is an empty space between each of them. These are called double or triple jumps. When a piece reaches the opponent's bottom square, it will become a 'Lady', placing a previously captured piece of the same color on it. In addition to the diagonal movement, the 'Ladies' they can move forward or backward and jump in any direction. But they can be jumped by the opponent, like common pieces. Tip: try variations of this game, such as the German Checkers Game. It follows the same rules, with the difference that all pieces can move back and forth and that it will only turn one. 'lady' if at the end of a single move it reaches the opposite end of the opponent.

Activities with the letter D - Dart of D

The objective of this game is to work the dart game, as it starts with the letter D. The game of darts is intended to hit a certain target worth a certain score.

To perform this activity we will need:

  • Cardboard box.
  • Adhesive.
  • Paper clips.
  • Crepe paper.
  • Hammer.
  • Green, black, red and blue marker pen.

Dart Step by Step:

  1. Open the paper clip to make the tip, flatten the tip with the hammer to sharpen it.
  2. Use the tape to make the body of the die, wrapping around the clip, leaving the end in view.
  3. Use the crepe paper to decorate the other end of the dart.
  4. Paint the adhesive, if you like.

Target Step by Step:

  1. Make a circular pattern on the cardboard.
  2. Use the pens to make circles through the pattern.
  3. Each circle is worth a different amount of points

Variation: You can take out a chair each round, but not take out any children, you need to sit on each other's lap.
