Carnival Lesson Plan for Maternal

Objective:

• To value the “carnival” commemorative date.

 1st step: At the circle, talk about carnival;

• Who likes carnival?
• Who goes to carnival?
• What costume/mask will you wear… and so on.

Listen to different carnival marches.

2nd Step: Working the Carnival March.

•  At first listen to recorded music. Then sing along with the kids all week long.
•  Make a poster with the music and post it in the classroom, sing pointing to the writing.

• Find the letter of the name on the poster

(EX: M for MARINA is spelled MOM/BREAST…)

3 Step: Graphic activity

• Sing the marchinha Mom I want;
• Color the drawings;
• Make collages (glue pieces of rubber on the floor where the baby is).
• Puncture (with barbecue sticks pierce the design in the Styrofoam).

4 Step: Make a carnival mask, together with the children. (Leave them to dry on the clothesline to be used the next day).

Face Painting: Paint each child's face, according to your choice.

5th Stage: Masquerade Ball.

All students must have their masks, rattles and lots of joy!

Carnival is a typical festival and is expected by many. Brazil is a country rich in its culture, music, dance, a happy country that allows us to bring a wealth of diversity to the school. As carnival in Brazil is a cultural issue, we will use this date to explore the typical dances of Brazilian regions.

We will also use this date to make children aware of the dangers of drugs, such as cigarettes, alcohol and other addictions.

MAIN GOAL:

• Bring Brazilian culture to the school environment.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:

• Working the themes through playfulness, using music and dance;
• Explore creativity using recyclable materials;
• Awaken children's participation through their imagination, their creativity, their freedom to climb their interaction and relaxation, stimulating their teaching-learning process.
• Develop your oral and written language and your logical, physical and motor reasoning.

SUGGESTIONS:

• Art: Use of recyclable materials, making ornaments to decorate the school, making musical instruments, making costumes and masks, etc.
• Portuguese: Oral and/or written language researches on carnival marchinhas, old plot sambas, creating poetry and music alluding to the date.
• Math: Working with numbers, make a survey of how many samba schools and blocks there are in the city and transform them into graphs, as well as the number of victories of each one of them in the last years.
• Geography: Knowing the songs, dances and typical foods of Brazilian regions;
• Sciences: Awareness of health and body care and the proper care that should be taken, such as hydration, good nutrition, etc.
• PE: Developing motor skills with typical music and games at the time;

The evaluation will be continued taking into account the evolution, participation, attention and involvement with the theme activities;

Procedures

We will tell the story of the Carnival from the collection “Did you know?” by Maurício de Sousa, we will talk about the knowledge that children already have about the Subject, we will mark the date of the upcoming Carnival on the calendar and place the children on the masked ball that will take place on February 28th at CMEI Children will receive Carnival masks previously made by the teachers so that they can decorate them with glitter glue, sequins, decorated paper, among others. Afterwards we will listen and dance to carnival songs.
