The white color, its friendly face and its size draw attention to the polar bear, and they have even been used as a poster boy for a soft drink brand. Inhabitants of the Arctic icy lands, the polar bear survives temperatures ranging from -37°C to -45°C, thanks to two layers of skin and a 11.5 cm thick fat bed that make the thermal insulation of your body.
Despite its large size, the polar bear can walk about 30 kilometers a day for several days at a time. The animal is found only in five countries: United States, Canada, Russia, Norway and Greenland. One difference between polar bears and other bears is that polar bears do not hibernate. Hunting for food is done by both male and female, who prefer to feed on seals.
However, the polar bear is in serious danger of disappearing from the wild. The greenhouse effect, a natural phenomenon that balances the Earth's temperature, is in constant imbalance. This fact leads to the advance of global warming, the main responsible for the risk of extinction of this animal. After all, global warming contributes to the melting of glaciers and the reduction of space for them to move around and, consequently, the supply of food also declines.
Because of this, Russia and Canada classified the animal as a vulnerable species. In 2008, the United States classified the Alaskan polar bear as an endangered species and therefore requires special protection. […]
