General objectives

• Contribute to the dissemination of works by Monteiro Lobato.

Specific objectives

Staging and Retelling

• Recount the stories, interpreting them with students. Make, together with the class, the scene of the yellow woodpecker's farm on cardboard. Allow the group to draw, paint or sketch according to the way each one imagines the Site. In this step, evaluate the artistic expression of the little ones within the theme. Don't forget to also build with the students, the main characters of the Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo, using materials available at the school or recycling.

Book Day Project – Key of Wisdom

• Books are an important means of communication in the process of transforming the individual and an extremely important foundation for the formation of society. It allows each culture to imprint its essential traits and show the identity of others. It is a vector for creation, information and education. We can read what we want, when, where and at the pace we choose.
• It is important for children to have the habit of reading because it improves language and communication with the world, their critical and creative capacity. The book attracts children due to the curiosity, format, handling and emotion of the stories. With the book you can choose between a story from the past, the present or fantasy.

GOALS

• Put students in contact with various types of books, so that they can discover them: different sizes, bindings, illustrations, languages.
• Implement or nurture the reading habit.
• Discover talents related to books: writer, diagrammer, illustrator.
• Recognize that the book is the best way for us to grow in wisdom and intelligence;

ORGANIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT

• Various activities are proposed per week for each class of students. The whole school can get involved in activities such as “Book Fair”, “Reading Afternoon”, “Exhibition of Rare Books”, “Literary Books Gymkhana”, Theater and Puppet for Elementary School I and II. The room that collects the most literary books will win a morning of educational film with popcorn, juice and ice cream. One class for each shift.

The realization of this Book Day Project for Kindergarten and Elementary Education is fundamental importance to facilitate access to the book and, at the same time, its circulation in the environment school. This means the democratization of books and reading in the school environment, where the planned schedule has "multiplier effect regarding the promotion of reading as a source of pleasure, knowledge and achievement of citizenship."

MAIN GOAL

• Various activities will be proposed during the week, for each class of students. “The entire school will be involved in activities such as “Book Fair”, “Reading Wheel”, “Visit to the City Public Library” Exhibition of Books Made by Students”, Theatrical presentation based on fables and classics of world literature such as Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, etc.
• Reading Time – students read or tell a story from a book they read, or in pairs, tell the story to a group and vice versa.

Valuing commemorative dates, seeing the importance in our lives and in the cognitive development of students. Enabling the development of oral and written language, using them as an interaction and participation of everyone in the school.

Goals:

• Recognize that the book is the best way for us to grow in wisdom and intelligence;
• Valuing moments of reading, understanding that it is the best way to awaken our knowledge of the world.

What students are expected to learn:

• Develop oral and written research skills;
• Expand the taste for reading;
• Know works and authors;
• Declaiming poems, rhymes, among others;
• Learning to share readings: collective, individual, silent, in chorus, etc.;
• Differentiate the texts;
• Read to another room, with correct intonations;
• Declaim poetry;
• Act out some kind of text;
• Learn to listen to your colleague's reading.

What the teacher must guarantee during the project:

• Bring several books to the classroom so that students can consult them for verification of various texts, works and authors;
• Favor individual and collective initiatives for readings and various texts;
• Propose questions that make students think about the importance of reading good books;
• Create fun reading atmospheres: Read to classmates in other rooms;
• Securely guarantee poetry recitations to colleagues from other classes;

1st day:

• Take a moment to reflect “What is the importance of reading for us?”.

• April 18th is the National Children's Book Day. It is the date of birth of one of the main writers of children's literature in Brazil, Monteiro Lobato!
