Since childhood, Gogota has always been a very curious droplet. She never missed the opportunity to ask her elders questions.
It was just seeing her mother washing dishes in the sink, laying out clothes on the clothesline or busy with other chores that she always came with a thousand questions.
– Mom, I've been thinking a lot and so far I haven't come to any conclusions about what can happen to me. I see so many of my colleagues disappearing that I don't understand…
– Look daughter, now mom is busy and can't talk to you. At night, before you go to sleep, we'll talk about it.
Gogota understood and went out to play with his companions. Together, they could slip on the green leaves, play with little penguins in the waterfall and soft water on hard stone, on the rocks. They joked, laughed a lot and returned home, exhausted from doing so much mischief.
In the evening, after taking a shower and having dinner, she lay down on her bed and called her mother to fulfill her promise.
Dona Gota sat down next to her and began:
– Look, daughter, each one of us, drops must be prepared for what will happen to us.
– What do you mean, Mom? You scare me…
– For the trip called “water cycle”.
– Water cycle.
- Yea. It is a journey of transformation and elevation. After the drops become adults, they become more sensitive to the sun's heat. Then they are sucked up and together go up into the clouds. It's a wonderful trip! In the air, you see a very beautiful landscape. Something never seen! You go up, up… until you reach a cloud, where there are several other droplets.
– You mean I'm not staying here on earth, with you?
– No, daughter! Each drop that rises reaches the clouds, stays there for a while and then descends again, in the form of rain. The descent is fascinating! It looks like a toboggan game. In the end, each one falls in a different place.
– Have you gone up, Mom?
– Yes, daughter! It was on the way down, when I fell on this rock, that your brothers and you were born. In the fall, I split into four parts: Gotinha, Pinguinho, you and me.
– How interesting Mom! Tell me how the climb is.
– Oh! Daughter, the climb is not very pleasant! First we feel a great heat, which feels like we are going to suffocate. Afterwards, we felt like we were sucked up. Then the heat increases … increases … and we go from the liquid state to the gaseous state; a little steam. It is a transformation that we undergo from the heat of the sun.
- Incredible!!!
– When we got to the clouds, we felt more relieved, because we became droplets again and stayed there, until we were thrown again to the earth.
– Wow! Mom, when I go up, I want to fall on a flowerbed to be sucked by a flower and be part of it.
– It would be great, daughter!
