She can, yes, kill the rats! If the animal does not have the body's defenses (or the immune system) working well, it cannot withstand the infection and dies – just as it happens with humans. Caused by a bacteria that settles in rats, leptospirosis attacks various organs (such as kidneys and brain) and is transmitted to people by the pee of these rodents in contact with the skin. Therefore, it is important not to step barefoot in places that may be contaminated, such as puddles in the street or water accumulated by floods.
