Today's enamels were created by chemist Charles Lachman, in partnership with brothers Charles and Joseph Revson, in 1927, in the United States. ________ an adaptation of a varnish used to protect car paint. In 1932, the trio founded Revlon, the world's first nail polish factory (the name is the combination of Revson plus Lachman's “L”). But the custom of painting nails is ancient: around 5,000 years ago, women in Egypt were already coloring their fingertips with dyes made from plants.
