Check this post for an excellent suggestion for Family Lesson Plan to work with Elementary School students “The family of each one”.
2 lessons of approximately 50 minutes
Students must be included in the literacy and literacy process.
The day before this class, the teacher must send a note asking students to bring photos (no necklace) of their family.
The teacher should make a circle with the students and ask each one to show who they live with, counting the degree of kinship they have with the person in the photo brought (father, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, stepfather, cousin)... Everyone should have the opportunity to speak and everyone should be heard, so that the class can get to know the family of each one.
After everyone introduces their family, the teacher, through an informal conversation, can ask the students:
Read the children's literature book “O Livro da Família” to the class.
After reading the book, the teacher should ask which students identify with the types of families that appeared in the book.
Through this discussion, students should realize that, in fact, each one's family structure is different and that each one must be respected, because the important thing is to have someone who takes care of us and love. No family is better or worse for its characteristics.
Give each child an activity sheet below:
Put the photos brought by the students on the board and call ahead one child at a time. The student must read to the classmates the sentences he wrote and show his sheet of the previous activity, by the drawing, the other children must try to guess which photo is of the classmate who is in front.
After everyone presents their drawings, in groups of four students, a decorative panel with photos of the families should be made to decorate the room.
Children's Literature Book: “It's OK to Be Different” by Todd Parr
Observe the students' motivation during the presentation of their family, through the photos brought.
Observe, during the conversations, if the class noticed the diversity of the existing types of families.
See if they were able to relate the book they worked on with their own families,
To analyze whether in activity 4 they were able to represent their family members with the drawing, making a relationship between the number presented and the number of people in the drawing.
Observe the progress in relation to the learning process of the student's written code, in the elaboration of sentences about their families.
Observe student interaction and participation during the last activity.
