If anyone out there thinks the Mayans have disappeared, they are sorely mistaken! Their descendants live integrated into Mexican civilization, in regions such as the Yucatan Peninsula, the the states of Tabasco and Chiapas, in Mexico, in Quatemala, and part of Honduras and El Salvador, in America Central. This idea of a mysterious disappearance arose from the fact that the Mayans abandoned many of their cities to flee wars and seek livelihoods in other regions.
