Families left the city for the countryside to live a simple life

Exchanging the countryside for the city in search of a better life has always been the most common option. However, some families, tired of the urban chaos, are taking the opposite path, leaving the big cities to literally live in the middle of the forest.

They are people who attended college, enjoyed a certain comfort in the city, but could no longer stand the rush, lack of freedom, traffic and excess consumption. In search of a simpler and healthier life, they are not afraid to face the hoe and discover a new way to survive.

For Manuella Melo Franco, 34, from Minas Gerais, the arrival of her first child was the push she needed to leave the city and, finally, experience a more peaceful and self-sustainable life, alongside fellow Hugo Ruax. “Tomé's birth reinforced our desire. We wanted to offer him a childhood closer to nature, away from consumer values and the madness of the city”, says the photographer and journalist. […]

Marinaldo Pegoraro, 54, from Santa Catarina, also did not take long to leave the apartment in Curitiba (PR), where he lived for the last 11 years, to go live with his wife and two teenage daughters at Sítio Serra Dourada in Delfim Moreira, in the extreme south of Minas Gerais. […]

[…] There is an exhaustion of this model of urban life”, says Marinaldo Pegoraro, without missing the shopping malls and happy to be able to work the land and hear the birdsong.
