“Edited 40 years ago by General Costa e Silva, the AI-5, the main symbol of the military dictatorship, is totally ignored by 82% of Brazilians aged 16 and over. And, of the 18% who heard something about it, only a third (32%) correctly answered that the acronym if referred to Institutional Act No. 5 (…) Knowledge about AI 5 grows as schooling progresses formal. Only 8% of people with elementary education have heard of AI-5. The rate rises to 53% for those with higher education, but only 12% of this group says they are well informed (...) For sociologist Leôncio Martins Rodrigues, retired professor at USP and Unicamp, `the decisive variable is education (…) This is not just in Brazil.
