The king of Portugal thought the land was his.
He didn't even recognize that this land had an owner.
He didn't even recognize that this land belonged to indigenous peoples.
It was soon dividing our land.
HE NOR RESPECTED OUR RIGHT!
He divided the land into 15 pieces.
He gave every piece to a rich man from Portugal.
Each of these pieces was called a captaincy.
Each captaincy owner was like a governor.
He had to have a felling done.
He had to have a planting done.
