The hula hoop, a colored plastic hoop that rotates around the body in a swing, was a worldwide fad in the 60s. It is known that it was already a toy in ancient Egypt, in the year 1000 BC, made of dried vine threads. In South America, it was made from sugar cane. In England, it was made of wood or metal, so it was very dangerous and was even called a death hoop.
