NAME:
A magnet is an object capable of attracting some metals. This property is called magnetism. The space around the magnet that is influenced by magnetism is the magnetic field. The closer the metal object is to the magnet, the greater the attractive power of the magnetic field. Therefore, generally, it is necessary to bring the magnet closer to the metallic bodies so that it attracts them.
A magnet has two opposite zones, north pole and south pole, in which the attractiveness is maximum.
If we bring two different poles together, the magnets attract. If we bring two equal poles together, the magnets repel each other.
Magnets are used in compasses, games, refrigerator decorations, among others. Television, computer, radio and cell phone are examples of devices that have some kind of magnet inside them.
The compass is one of humanity's great technological inventions. She allowed them to determine directions. This favored maritime exploration and enabled a great revolution in world trade.
The compass works because planet Earth has a magnetic field. The compass needle is suspended and is guided by the Earth's magnetic field, indicating the north-south direction.
