If the fur gets hot, why is the Arab hairy and the Eskimo naked?

What defines the presence of a greater or lesser amount of hair is not just the temperature of the place where people live. In the case of people from the Middle East, the large temperature range and solar incidence are the likely reasons for having body hair. In winter and at night, they retain body heat, but under the sun they act as protection against burns. Otherwise it would be like the marchinha: “the sun was hot and it burned our face”.

The Eskimos, on the other hand, have little hair, probably because of the migration of man from Asia to the Americas, between 20,000 and 35,000 years ago. The people who crossed the Bering Strait had little fur, but mastered techniques for keeping warm, such as the use of animal skins. In other words, cultural adaptation allowed them to live in a cold environment even though some characteristics were favorable to warmer climates. They continued descending the Americas until they reached what is now Brazil, with our few-haired Indians.
