The little ant was very good and honorable, but she had a flaw: she didn't know how to keep a secret. Her close friends would sometimes tell her sensitive subjects with the promise that she would never tell anyone. But usually, the next morning, the whole anthill knew the story.
One day, a contest was called in the anthill, with the following conditions: the ant that brought the biggest and juiciest delicacy would receive a great prize.
The little ant knew where there was a large piece of apple, which must surely be delicious. The worst thing is that she needed help, because she alone would not be able to transport him to the anthill. After much thought, she decided to confide her secret to one of her friends.
“If you promise you won't tell anyone what I'm going to tell you, you can share the grand prize of the contest with me. said the ant.
— It is promised, my friend. So count, count!
The ant explained well the place where the piece of apple was, and they agreed to meet there later. When the ant arrived at the secret location, it saw that the piece of apple was gone. In its place, there was a very clear note: “To be a lesson to you, little ant. Secrets must be kept. If not, you're seeing the result.”
Thus, the little ant saw the grand prize go into the hands of her judicious friend who, understanding, still wanted to share part of it with her. From that date onwards, it became a discreet ant and as good at keeping secrets as an Egyptian mummy.
