Frogs are part of the amphibian group or Amphibia, a word that has a Greek origin (amphi = double and bio = life). This means that they have a double life: the aquatic larval stage (tadpoles) and the adult stage, when they occupy the most diverse terrestrial environments. Researchers at the Vertebrate Zoology Laboratory of the Federal University of Ouro Preto found in the Serra do Ouro Branco, in Minas Gerais, 11 species of amphibians that live on the ground of the Forest. Of these, five species belong to the group of frogs that do not go through the tadpole stage, that is, these animals can live in mountain environments without having to look for a pond or a puddle for the reproduction.
