Planets like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are gaseous, that is, formed mainly by gases, having a vast liquid part and only the core made of rock. Worlds like these are generally more than 740 million kilometers away from their central star when they form, more than five times the distance between Earth and the Sun. But if this is the rule of the Solar System, why have astronomers identified extrasolar planets so close to their stars, if they are also gaseous? The answer may be simple: because these planets changed places over time!
