Why doesn't the duck get wet when it swims?

Because it produces an oily secretion under the tail and with its beak it removes the oil and spreads it around the body. Covered by this secretion, the feathers become impermeable. Also, the layer of air between the feathers and the body helps keep the duck afloat.
