The rains in the Salar de Uyuni are concentrated in January, leading to the formation of a layer of water of about twenty-five centimeters on its surface, which becomes an immense mirror. In the long dry season, which runs from April to November, the saline surface becomes stable and homogeneous, starting to radiate light with immense brightness. These characteristics, in addition to the absence of buildings and industries in the region, make the Salar de Uyuni one of the ideal for the calibration of radiometric sensors, used by artificial satellites in orbit around the Earth. Amazing, isn't it? Did you want to get to know it up close? We recommend!!!
