Why do Dalmatians have spots all over their bodies?

According to zootechnician Alexandre Rossi, it is a selection process, caused by man. Traditionally, Dalmatians were dogs that accompanied carriages. Animals that had spots were more valued because they adorned the means of locomotion. Therefore, they were the most used for reproduction. According to Rossi, the same thing happened with the Great Dane.
