The cuckoo is a European bird, which lives in various regions of the world. It measures 30 centimeters, has a grayish chest and the lower part of the body is covered with white and black stripes. He sings a lot in early spring, and his name comes from the sound of his singing.
According to a legend from the Black Forest region of Germany, there was a very happy bird in the woods, which sang very loudly and was a friend to all other animals. Protected puppies even though they weren't his. When it sensed danger, the bird would soon sing very loudly: cuckoo-cuckoo. Everyone was on alert. The witch, who also lived in the woods, didn't like that at all. With his warning, the animals he hunted for his witchcraft escaped! What did the evil one do? He set a trap and chased the poor cuckoo! He stuffed it inside a little house he had hanging on the wall of his house.
All the animals searched for days and couldn't find the bird anymore. Realizing that he couldn't get out of there anymore, the cuckoo had an idea.
Even in prison, he figured out how to help everyone. When the witch left the house, he would open the little door of the house and sing very loudly: cuckoo-cuckoo-cuckoo. It was a way of letting them know that the witch had gone hunting. That's how the various models of watches came about.
