The planet's temperature has greatly decreased. Many glaciers formed on land and in the seas, causing what scientists call glaciation. unbearable cold, brrrr! Part of the oceans also froze, altering the sea currents and causing its water level to decrease by about 100 meters. All this may have been caused by the movement of part of the continents towards the south pole of the Earth.
All life forms on the planet inhabited the seas and oceans during this period, being greatly affected by the changes that took place. It is estimated that eight out of ten species went extinct during the ____________ great ice age.
