The need for protein in the diet of both the average individual and the athletes is not different. No one needs more than two grams of protein per pound of body weight per day. This means that if you weigh 30 kilos, you only need to eat a total of 60 grams of protein per day. Eating more than that, athlete or non-athlete will not have more energy, for a simple reason: the body eliminates excess protein, and the energy spent in this process is equivalent to what was consumed.
