This is a coloring book, but also for learning. It features 23 species of owls that can be found in Brazil. Some, such as the Burrowing Owl and the Barn Owl, occur across the country and can be seen even in the largest cities. Other species are quite rare, such as the small-eared owl and the small-eared owl.
Each owl was illustrated by young Lucas Henrique, from Nova Iguaçu (RJ). He discovered very early on an enormous talent for drawing. Encouraged by his teacher, bird watcher Gabriel Mello, Owls and Little Owls of Brazil It is already the second children's book illustrated by Lucas. The texts about each species and the stories in the book were written by Professor Sonia Roberto Costa. The book also has classic games and hobbies, to entertain and hold children's attention even more.
Owls are considered a symbol of wisdom, but that doesn't stop some from falling prey to old and ingrained superstitions. The barn owl, for example, is a beautiful owl found throughout Brazil, but unfortunately it is often associated with bad omens. Its night singing, quite peculiar, scares people. It is not uncommon for this bird to be attacked with stones or even shots. Several end up in wildlife rehabilitation centers. Many do not survive. A children's book that reveals the habits of our owls, highlighting their importance and variety, has to be celebrated and reach the hands of many children!
