Friends are for all hours

Senhor and Senhora Gavião, with their three children, lived in a tree. His best friends were Sara the turtle, Moca the kingfisher, and Leo the lion. They often sang together when they ate a good dinner.

One day, three hunters camped in the forest and made a camp fire under the hawk tree. The smoke made the baby hawk cough and choke, so the hunters noticed the birds and decided to capture them. They stoke the fire to try to get them out of the nest. Senhor and Senhora Gavião left immediately to ask their friends for help. Mocha arrived first.

He slapped the river water, splashing a few drops on the fire to try to slow it down, but the hunters lit it again. Sara was the next to arrive; he dove into the water to get mud and, with it, put out the fire, while the hunters were distracted. Then the hunters began to climb the tree, but just then Leo arrived and gave a mighty roar. The terrified hunters fled, leaving their friends happy for a snack.
