Red: Growing up is a Beast features Mei Lee, a 13-year-old girl who goes through the real emotional roller coaster of adolescence: despite having been always an obedient daughter, sparks of rebellion begin to emerge, along with all the changes in her personality, body, and relationships. And everything gets even more complicated, thanks to a very unusual feature.
That's because Mei turns into a giant red panda every time she goes through strong emotions - which ends up happening all too often during this phase of her life. While learning to deal with this "detail" that is difficult to hide, the protagonist also lives under the constant surveillance of her overprotective and authoritarian mother, who will test her daughter's self-control.
With this, we will follow a story to warm the heart and identify with Mei's transformations: who has never felt like a beast in the face of some situations in life? To complete the atmosphere of adolescence and nostalgia, the animation takes place between the 1990s and the 2000s, that is, the entire period of boy bands of pop music, virtual pets and magazine posters is back – those who lived remember it well!
