Never in that region had a flamingo been so avaricious. He had found, some time ago, a hidden treasure, which was enough to guarantee him the future. Still, he didn't stop working. He didn't do it to contribute to the community, but out of greed, to accumulate ever greater wealth. Every day he left the house at sunrise and did not return until late at night. And that's because they wouldn't let him work at night.
— We must be prudent and work as hard as possible, because the future is uncertain. - he said to justify himself.
"But how much money does this flamingo need?" the pelican wondered.
“Look at him. - pointed the hare. He's been wearing this same outfit for many years. And everything to save, have you seen it?
Indeed, in addition to being a tireless accumulator of wealth, the flamingo was incapable of spending a penny. His appearance, as depressing as possible, caused pity and contempt for his acquaintances.
One day the flamingo, who was also eating very poorly, woke up with a stomachache and couldn't go to work.
- What a sadness! he exclaimed, fearing for his future. I can't go to work! Well… no calling the doctor. He charges a lot for visits and then there are the medicines… I'll wait a little longer. Sure enough, the pain will soon pass…
Time passed and the miser flamingo got worse and worse. When, finally desperate, he decided to call the doctor, it was already too late. The disease had progressed a lot and there was no more medicine.
Then the flamingo realized that avarice had harmed him. Wealth is only valuable if we know how to use it.
