The Nile River is approximately 6,650 kilometers long. It is considered one of the longest rivers in the world, second only to the Amazon River in Brazil.
The River Nile is in northeast Africa. It is a very important river for human history.
The sources of the Nile are rivers that originate in Burundi and Rwanda, which flow into Lake Victoria. The Nile passes through Uganda, South Sudan and Sudan. In the South Sudan region, it receives the name of Nile Branco and is 800 kilometers long.
There is also a part of the river called the Blue Nile. It heads north, passing through the deserts of Sudan and Egypt. The River Nile flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
The flora and fauna that are present on the banks of the Nile River are very rich in biodiversity. The river is surrounded by rainforests along the southern part. In these areas, ebony, rubber, bamboo and banana trees are found.
In the part of the Blue Nile, savannas predominate and, north of Khartoum, the banks are formed by a desert with little vegetation.
The most common fish in the Nile River are perch, catfish, eel, lungfish, tilapia and tigerfish. In fauna, the most common animals are crocodiles, soft-shelled turtles and snakes.
