The stork was skilled in the art of sewing and embroidery. Endowed with great patience and calm, she was able to perform very delicate and time-consuming work. Therefore, she was much admired in Tapetolândia.
One afternoon, together with her friends, the stork undertook to embroider a very large pillow, adorned with infinite colorful arabesques.
“I think in ten years' time, it will be finished. she told her friends.
So the stork undertook the most worthy task, with much tact and wisdom. Without being in a hurry, she was giving shape to her work.
So more than nine years passed. The stork was already tired of such a long and routine task. Almost without realizing it, she hurried to her work, desiring to see the pillow finished as soon as possible. There! That was her downfall, because at the last stitch, the thread got tangled up and fell to the floor. To make matters worse, a playful kitten grabbed the thread and ran, pulling the thread and embroidery behind him. She ran back and forth until the work was hampered.
— Oh, no!… Nine and a half years of work for this! I wanna die! - lamented the stork.
His complaints were of no use to him. The solution was to resume work, redoing the damaged part. The stork, for a moment of recklessness, almost spoiled what had been achieved, thanks to a great deal of patience and perseverance.
