During the 9 days that preceded Espírito Santo, or even we don't know if before that, a group of boys, all from 9 to 11 years old, went out on the city streets, whimsically dressed like the shepherdess: pink shoes, white socks, shorts the color of shoes, sashes at the waist, white shirt with long and loose fittings collars, wide-brimmed or silk-lined straw hats, all adorned with wreaths of flowers, and a prodigious amount of ribbon bows red. Each of these boys carried a pastoral instrument on which they played tambourine, machete and tambourine.
