lions

They are very fast in small distances, reaching 50 kilometers per hour.

Its canine teeth measure up to 6 centimeters, and its tail can be 1 meter long.

A lion's mane is up to 24 centimeters long, and it tends to darken over the years.

A lion's roar can be heard from 9 kilometers away. Therefore, he is considered the “King of the Jungle”.

The gestation of a lioness takes from 100 to 119 days. Usually, the litter consists of two or three puppies, and can reach six.

They are the only sociable cats, that is, they live in packs.

Because of a genetic anomaly, white lions may exist. They are not albino and therefore have no sensitivity to the sun. Their color, however, makes them easy prey in the savannas, as they cannot camouflage themselves. His eyes are blue or gold. They are found free in the Timbavati reserve in South Africa, where they are considered sacred by some tribes. In some zoos, lions are bred with the anomaly to produce more white cubs.

A lion is capable of eating up to 30 kilos of meat at once. A male needs 7 kilos of meat a day, and a female needs 5 kilos.

Usually the hunting mission is the females. The males also hunt, but because of the heat provided by the mane, they soon tire. Also, because they are big, they are not very skilled.
