More than a hundred years. Lots of history. Founded on August 15, 1896, on the feast day of the patron saint of Ribeirão da Ilha, district of Florianópolis-SC, Banda da Lapa has in its trajectory many love stories for music and friendship. Stories that tell about a time that goes back before our grandparents, but that continue to be told, imagined, recreated. Stories that are being lived by people younger than us.
From them, the audiovisual directors Daniel Choma and Tati Costa developed the project “Memories and harmonies of the Banda da Lapa”, researching photographs, conducting interviews, videos and texts about the historical trajectory of this one of the three bands with the longest activity in Florianópolis, alongside Comercial e Amor the art.
There were 41 interviews, three months following the band in their daily lives and presentations. The process experienced reinforces the importance of the elderly as guardians of social memory. Without them, you would not be able to know better what happened and, therefore, you would not be able to recognize or appreciate the point at which you arrived. It was in the manuscripts and recollections of Alécio Heidenreich – 82, grandson, son and brother of musicians from Banda da Lapa – that the main impetus for this work was given. Alécio, from the memoirs transcribed in detail in the form of texts. The memories so many times told, but in whom the sparkle in the eyes is greater with each retelling.
“From the air”, “The blow”, “The pulse” and “The pause”, four parts of the same bar, the Memories and Harmonies of the Banda da Lapa. O Book DVD Memories and harmonies of Banda da Lapa gathers part of the research carried out, as a small memorial. Partial and forever incomplete memorial, as time is a moving image and history continues. Day by day, grain by grain, note by note.
