Mia Couto was born in 1955 in Beira, Mozambique. She is a biologist, journalist and author of more than thirty books, between prose and poetry. His novel “Terra sonâmbula” is considered one of the twelve best African books of the 20th century. He received a series of literary awards, including the Camões, in 2013, the most prestigious in the language. Portuguese language, and the Neustadt International Prize in 2014, and was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize from 2015. He is a corresponding member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Companhia das Letras has been publishing all of his work in Brazil.
