Just arrive, take a deep breath and contemplate nature. For those who enjoy ecotourism and adventure tourism, Aiuruoca is a complete dish.
Located in the south of Minas Gerais, in the heart of Serra da Mantiqueira, at an altitude of 1,050 meters, the city is 416 km from Belo Horizonte, 368 km from São Paulo and 329 km from Rio de Janeiro.
Several streams, waterfalls, reserves and beautiful peaks can be visited in the place, among them, the State Park of Serra do Papagaio, at 2,357 meters above sea level, Vale dos Garcias and Vale do Matutu, a natural reserve that concentrates a good part of the natural beauties of region.
The city is very typical from Minas Gerais, with a peaceful center, little church, main square. In Aiuruoca you will find the traditional hospitality of the people of Minas Gerais and the tranquility of the countryside.
The municipality belongs to the Circuito Montanhas Mágicas da Mantiqueira, which includes seven other cities. Its name derives from Tupi and means "parrot house", through the junction of the words aîuru (“parrot”) and ok ("House").
