Book brings together cartoons of decadent superheroes

A book published in Italy brings together 40 caricatures of the best-known superheroes in magazines in comics, with one detail: illustrator Donald Soffritti imagined them all in middle age or old age.

“Superheroes Decadence”, by the publisher Comma 22, costs 10 euros (about R$ 27.00) and started as a project on the Italian artist's blog. According to Soffritti, thanks to popular appeal, the caricatures became a book, “revealing” little bellies, bad habits, tired eyes and even shows some of the heroes in wheelchairs. Among the characters portrayed in the cartoons are Batman and Robin, Superman, Elektra and several others.

The Bologna artist continues to publish his caricatures on the internet.
