Inspired by Disney animation, the musical tells the story of Simba, a young lion prince. When his uncle Musafa kills Simba's father to steal the throne, he is wrongly accused of being the murderer and must go far away, leaving his life behind. On the way, he meets Timon and Pumba, who accompany him on the journey to fulfill his destiny: to become king. In 1998, the show directed by Julie Taymor won six Tony awards, equivalent to the Oscar of theatre, including the best musical category. In 2013, the play won a Brazilian adaptation, which had more than 800 thousand viewers.
