In one of the chronicles gathered here, Luis Fernando Verissimo talks about yet another memorable creation of his, the Marciano Hypotético. The alien visits Earth from time to time and is often baffled by what he sees. When we read Verissimo's texts, we feel a bit like Marciano. This happens because the author has the gift of always surprising us, showing the world from unusual angles. Here, he casts his astute eye on the football universe, so dear to us Brazilians. With his lean and elegant text, he examines the sport's paradoxes [...] Some chronicles make us think, such as the one that states that football is a mixture of chess and boxing. Others make us laugh, like the one that opens the book, about a heart that will end up in the World Cup. Most of them provoke both reactions.
