Among the ingredients of the cake are the fruits banana, apple and mango, which are the favorite of the gorilla.
The gorilla Sawidi, from the Belo Horizonte Zoo, turns 8 this Friday (5). His birthday was celebrated with a cake specifically for primates filled with fruits and vegetables for the whole family of gorillas. Among the cake's ingredients are banana, apple and mango, which are the gorilla's favorite fruits.
Those who visited the zoo in the morning could follow the little party. In the afternoon until 4 pm, the “Meeting with Sawidi” will take place. “The proposal is to present the gorillas in the herd, the Animal Welfare Program developed and the importance of zoos in the conservation of species. Also, draw attention to the main threats faced by gorillas in the wild. At a certain moment of the activity, the handler offers part of the diet of these animals in the external area of the enclosure, allowing the animals to forage, that is, look for their food”, wrote the prefecture of the capital.
Sawidi is the eldest son of the family and his name has an indigenous origin and means “beloved”. “The choice of the name of indigenous origin was due to the fact that it was the first gorilla calf born in South America”, informed the city hall.
There are seven gorillas in the capital's zoo. They originate from the African rainforest and are critically endangered. […]
