As a gift, he got a frozen cake. In the coming months, the animal will be shipped to China
Giant panda Bei Bei, who lives at the Washington Zoo, celebrates his fourth year of life in this Thursday (22), with a special cake that marks his last birthday in the United States before being shipped to China.
For her fourth birthday, Bei Bei received a red, yellow and blue frozen cake, adapted to her food. The celebration was broadcast by the “Panda Cam” system, which shows live images.
Following in the footsteps of his brothers Bao Bao and Tai Shan, Bei Bei will be sent to China under the rules of the loan agreement established by Beijing. His parents, Mei Xian and Tian Tian, will remain in Washington until 2020 at least.
Zoo officials have not yet announced the exact date of the animal's trip, but said it will be "in the coming months."
In September 2015, the panda was visited by the then First Ladies of China and the United States, Peng Liyuan and Michelle Obama, respectively, in a ceremony in which his name was announced. Bei Bei means “precious” in Mandarin.
