Read the news carefully. Soon after, answer the proposed questions:
Europe has been experiencing an unusual heat wave, and it's not just people who have been taken by surprise by the high temperatures. Thinking of the puppies that walk barefoot on the very hot asphalt, the police in Zurich, capital of Switzerland, created a campaign for owners to start putting shoes on their pets.
The initiative was dubbed “Hot Dog Action”, and has been helping many puppies not to burn their paws.
On the Zurich Police Facebook, there are various pieces of information such as a table that shows the ambient temperature in relation to the air temperature. If it's 25ºC outside, for example, the asphalt temperature can be doubled: between 45ºC and 50°C.
The police also instruct pet owners to take a practical test: if they put their hand on the asphalt for five seconds and it's too hot, it's also too hot for your paws. puppy.
They suggest that people avoid walking their pets on the asphalt, but if necessary, that smaller dogs be carried on their laps and that larger ones wear shoes.
The care of animals in Switzerland
In Switzerland, there are lawyers paid by the government to defend animals. In a law that has been in place since 2010, anyone can report a case of animal abuse and the animal will be represented in court by a lawyer. At the time, the proposed law was open to vote and had a positive result.
